This morning, it was a beautiful day and so my boyfriend and I decided to head Wurst for brunch. Once we sat down, I picked up the menu and saw mainly gluten filled options. When our server come …over, I crossed my fingers and asked if they had gluten free bread and the response was no but we can alter the menu options to be gluten free. After perusing the menu for some time I felt disappointed because the bulk of the menu consisted of eggs benny, sandwiches, waffles and omelettes. The only option that was a decent gluten free option was the omelette, but they are the least favorite thing to eat for brunch. The upside was there was a butter boiled lobster omelette. Okay so totally not healthy, but I love lobster and thought this just might cheer me up. My boyfriend ordered the Mountain Man breakfast which consisted of fried eggs, toast, bacon and stewed tomatoes.
We eagerly awaited our food arriving and once it was put down I got excited because the omelette looked light and fluffy and not dry which is what makes me dislike omelettes so much. In addition it contained wilted greens and cheese so it perked up the dish. I bit into the omelette and the taste of the lobster was good but the cheese added a weird texture because it was a soft cheese. Also there was only three little pieces of lobster so it was mainly just omelette. The salad was light and refreshing but overall I wasn’t thrilled with my meal because brunch to me is eggs benny or a skillet with potatoes, bacon and cheese. My boyfriend said his eggs were tasty but the stewed tomatoes were a strange side dish.
Until Wurst gets better gluten free options, I likely won’t go back for brunch because I know I can go to other places and get a gluten free bready Sunday morning breaky. You can check out the menus here http://wurst.ca/menus.php.See More
