Two weeks ago I met my girlfriend and her baby for lunch at Diner Deluxe because it is family friendly and carries gluten free items. Normally I wouldn’t order a big plate of pasta but when I saw gluten free mac and cheese on the menu, I couldn’t resist.
Our server told us the mac and cheese would take some extra time because it was made to order. When my dish arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see a bun from Care Bakery which makes the best gluten free bread in Calgary. I anxiously took my first bite of mac and cheese, but instead of having a creamy and rich mac and cheese, this was pesto based and full of oil. Everytime I took a bite, the pasta was dripping in oil and I really didn’t eat much of my meal with the exception of the bun.
Since Diner Deluxe has awesome gluten free bread I would definately go back for breakfast but not for the mac and cheese.
