It was my boyfriend’s 30th birthday and so we wanted to go back to one of our favorite restaurants – Brava Bistro. One of the main reasons we love Brava so much is because the food is amazing and they do a good job catering to celiacs and gluten intolerant.
We started off with the Lobster Poutine which is killer. Unlike a traditional poutine, there is no gravy so gluten is not a concern, instead has shellfish butter sauce and marscapone cheese and of course chunks of lobster and fries. This dish is rich but not overwhelming and soooo tasty. Our server told us to dip the bread into the left over sauce but unfortunately Brava doesn’t provide gluten free bread.
For our main course I had the tenderloin with boursin mashed potatoes and garlic mushrooms. I couldn’t decide what part of the meal to eat first because it was all so delish. Honestly the potatoes and mushrooms were so addicting that I could have eaten them for a meal. My boyfriend had the beef short rib with broccoflower and mac and cheese. He’s not one for excellent descriptors but said all of his meal was amazing as well.
We had these dishes with the Pirramima Shiraz which was a 2009. I wish they still had the 2006 because this is my favorite year of this vintage. The 2009 was good but after a couple of glasses became a little too fruity.
Overall Brava Bistro is a homefun everytime and you won’t be dissapointed. Check them out at www.bravabistro.com
