Like so many of these beautiful nights, my friends and I are trying to take advantage and be outside. Usually this involves a patio, but the other day my girlfriends had a stroke of genius and thought we should hit pool side at Raw Bar.

The ambience is amazing with music playing and sitting poolside sipping a glass of white wine on a hot day. After enjoying the sunshine, we decided to order appe’s to snack on. I looked at the menu which doesn’t show what’s gluten free, but I asked our server and she happened to be celiac. There were a large number of items that could be modified to be gluten free even though they don’t have gluten free bread.

I decided to order the dungeness crab and mango roll which they can serve with gluten free tamari which is awesome. The calamari salad that comes with the roll is pre-made so they can’t modify it though the kitchen was great and substituted a green saled for me.

Overall the food was pretty good though considering the name Raw Bar, it would be nice to have more raw options like seafood and better selection of oysters. Any hot day though, there is no better place to hang out in Calgary to enjoy the pool with a cool glas of sangaria!
